Teac AS-200 Integrated Amplifier

Teac AS-200 Integrated Amplifier  (1968)

Teac, more often known for their reel to reel tape machines, also made this Teac AS-200 Integrated Amplifier in the late 1960's.  The machine is wrapped in a wood veneered case, and the wood veneer carries through to the flip down front  panel, and even in the square buttons.  Yes, there is real wood veneer (not vinyl!) inlaid in those small square buttons.

Some other interesting features are 2 Phono and Aux inputs, selected between '1' and '2' via small knobs under the flop down panel.  Build quality is very high, with a tremendous attention to detail which carries through to the internals.  Inside there is an amplifier section which is capable of 40 watts per channel, via two modular amplifier boards.

The rest of this series also contained an AF-200 electronic crossover, an the AE-200 power amplifier.

Pioneer SA-6500 II Integrated Amplfier and TX-6500 II Tuner

Pioneer SX-6500 integrated amplfier and TX-6500 tuner

Pioneer SA-6500 Integrated Amplifier and TX-6500 tuner (1977-1978)

The SA-6500 was one of Pioneer's mid-range integrated amps in the mid-1970s. The SA-6500 was rated at 25 watts per channel.  Interestingly, this amp had the same low intermodulation distortion and total harmonic distortion specs as the top-of-the-line SPEC-2 amplifier, 0.1 %. So, while the buyer of this amp couldn't afford a SPEC-2, he could boast it had the same specs!

The TX-6500 II tuner was also introduced in 1977 and was a step up from the TX-5500 II in terms of features and performance. It featured better stereo separation and signal to noise ratio, and the extra circuitry components resulted in a weight of 12.50 pounds. It had a list price of $200.00. This tuner was a good seller for Pioneer and it was offered again for 1978.
