Bose 601 Series II Direct/Reflecting® loudspeaker system ( Sold from 1982 – 1986)

Love them or hate them, if nothing else, Bose speakers always do a good job of polarizing opinions.  These 601 Series II speakers from Bose feature no less than 2 woofers and four tweeters per speaker to achieve the 'Direct/Reflecting' component of their name.  I listened to this pair, connect to a relatively high power solid state amplifier (Meridian 559) and they sounded just fine.  Not my favorite speaker, but certainly better than many others I've heard.

Bose 201 Series II Loudspeakers (1984 to 1991, $200 MSRP)

Each speaker (left and right) has one 6” forward-facing woofer, one 3” free field tweeter, nominal impedance 8 ohms, power rating is 5 watts minimum and 60 watts RMS maximum. Dimensions of each speaker is: 14 ½” wide, 7 ¾” deep, and 9” high.

Each speaker weighs about 10 pounds. The speakers are also built with a dual frequency crossover network, and automatic system protection circuitry.

I'm certainly stretching the definition of 'vintage' with this one, but if it's not vintage now, it certainly will be.  Say what you will about Bose, but their Wave radio is a design classic.
